By 22 December this year all works on the construction site as well as handing over procedures will have been completed and the Operator’s equipment purchased. If the passage on the motorway was to be free of charge, the Concessionaire will open the completed section for use even on the same day.

We are anxiously looking forward to the Minister’s decision concerning the fee rates – says Mr. Torbjörn Nohrstedt, President of Gdańsk Transport Company S.A. – as his decision determines whether the motorway will be opened this year or not.

GTC has advised that there should be no tolls collected until the full Phase 1 to Nowe Marzy is opened since the Swarozyn Toll Plaza is not capable of handing the toll motorway traffic without creating substantial queues.

If the Minister decides to introduce toll, the opening of the first two sections of the
A1 Motorway will be postponed by a few more weeks. The remaining 65 km long section of the motorway is planned to be open for use in November 2008 at the latest.
